A Southern Institution

Just about anyone from the South (or anyone who follows the Food Network or the world of cooking) knows who Paula Deen is.   There's also a good chance that they've heard of her brother, Bubba.  While Lorelai, my mom, and I were in Savannah recently we ate dinner at Bubba's restaurant, Uncle Bubba's.
We stayed with my mom's friend Dale and her granddaughter, Ashlyn.  The girls became fast friends and dressed like twins at any given opportunity.  On this particular night they wore matching "dresses."  I put "dresses" in quotations marks because Lorelai's dress was actually one of Ashlyn's shirts.  Here are the twins on the patio at Uncle Bubba's.
These are a few of the pictures that I took of the girls before we headed out to dinner.

Lots more to come from our trip in later posts...

Painting with Pudding

I've been looking for crafts to do with Lorelai and Miller over the summer.   I found pudding fingerpaints on Pinterest.  The idea was cute, easy, didn't cost a lot of money, and extremely tasty!

The supplies.
 Getting their medium ready.

Time to add a splash of color.

 A perfect pallette.
Artists at work.

Moving on to more advanced "brushes."

Flower Girl

Lorelai has her first boyfriend, Brennen.  He is a boy in her class and she absolutely adores him.  They've "broken up" a few times, but at an End-of-the-Year celebration at his house with a few kids from school they decided to get back together.  To show his commitment he gave her an arrangement of wildfowers in a glass carafe.  Somehow my pictures of those got misplaced but luckily he gave her another gorgeous arrangement in a Mason jar the last time they had a playdate.
Brennen told his mom he thought the flowers were "as beautiful as I thought Lorelai looked on the last day of school."
When the florist asked Brennen if the flowers were for his mom he replied, "No, they're for my best girl."  Adorable!!

Mother's Day 2012

On Mother's Day we met my parents at Logan's for lunch.  It was a very low-key celebration, but sometimes those are the best kind.

Lorelai cozying up to Granddaddy.
Dan and his mini-me.
Two of the very special men in my life.
A great picture of Granddaddy and two of his favorite grandkids.  I especially like Miller in this one.
Dan was kind enough to play photographer so that we could get a picture of three generations of Crosby/Jacob ladies.
Some sweet pictures of Lorelai and me.  I don't have any pictures with Miller because once he got in Granddaddy's lap he was as happy as a clam and he wasn't budging.

Headstand Extravaganza

Lorelai loves practicing gymnastics at home.  One of her favorite activites is practicing handstands, although hers tend to turn out as headstands.  We put out the down comforter for a little extra cushioning and she takes it from there.

 Look Ma, no hands!
