Fun To Dye For

The Friday before Easter the kids and I went to Sierra and Chase's to dye eggs.  Not always the cleanest activity, but definitely one of the season's favorites and most traditonal.  Before we headed inside to get started I took some pictures outdoors of the kids playing on the swingset.  KC was always close by.

When dyeing eggs, an apron is a must.

Chase was very patient with this activity and wanted all of his eggs to be blue.

Since the colors had to be shared Lisa persuaded him that green wasn't such a back back-up choice.

The Miller Man couldn't get enough of the green.  He would have had one more green in his collection but he cracked two of his eggs together and the green one didn't make it.

Sierra headed straight for the orange but for some reason the dye just wouldn't hold.  She did a great job with the colors she chose,though.  Pink (red) was a huge hit.

And finally we come to Ms. Lorelai.   She, in turn, wanted everything pink.  She made a few yellows and blues, but pink was the star of her collection.

After the eggs dried, the kids were able to decorate the eggs with stickers and glitter to give them some pizazz.

Easter Basket Bonanza

This year I decided to get crafty and make the kids' Easter baskets.  While I can't take credit for the ideas, I will take credit for all of the work that went into them.

I got the idea for Miller's basket from a blog called the-wilson-world.blogspot.com.  I had lots of trouble finding round, wooden fruit baskets so I just used a regular wicker basket and spray painted it white.  I used ribbon from my mom's craft room and she helped me laminate Miller's nametag.  I was really pleased with the way it turned out.

Next up is Lorelai's tutu basket.  She said it was very sassy ~ imagine that!  I got the great idea for this basket from a blog that I follow regularly called linsey-organizedchaos.blogspot.com.  Thanks, Linsey!!  I took three different colors of tulle and knotted them individually around the rim of a wire basket.  I took ribbon and wrapped it around the handle and also used it to tie bows at the edge of the handles.  Finally, I took a silky white ribbon and knotted it twice on each side just to add a little extra flair.  Lorelai absolutely loved it!!

Spring Photo Shoot in Falls Park

Since the Miller Man has been around I've always done our spring pictures at Furman.  While the grounds and flowers are always gorgeous and the fountains give a beautiful backdrop, there isn't much shade and the sun proves to be precarious.  This year I decided to do our photo shoot at Falls Park.  I'd done a shoot there once with Lorelai and the flowers were fantastic.  Dan went with me this year to help serve as kid wrangler.  I got lots of great stuff to work with, not to mention a wonderful gag reel (post to follow)!  Hope you enjoy this nice taste of spring.

While home on Spring Break Lorelai and I were trying to find ways to fill the hours.  In additon to running errands, doing lots of sidewalk chalk, and dyeing Easter eggs with Sierra and Chase (post to come later), we also did our own version of Club Tabby at home.

Lorelai put on one of her fanciest princess gowns and was ready for her "before" shot.

Lollipop Meets the Family

On Wednesday of "Star Student Week," we went to McDonald's and Bruster's with Sierra, Chase, and Aunt Lisa.  Since we had the privilege of spending time with Sierra while she was the Lighthouse Kid and we got to meet Furman the Turtle, we figured it was only appropriate to return the favor and let them hang with us for a while and meet Lollipop.

Sierra, Chase, and Aunt Lisa stopped off at their house to pick up KC - their new Yorkie puppy - on their way to Bruster's.  Here she is with those precious Jacob girls again.  Pictures don't get much cuter than that!
